Obituary of Leonard J. "Lenny" Mello
Leonard J. “Lenny” Mello, 59, of Burlington and formerly of Peabody, died unexpectedly Sunday evening at the Lahey Medical Center in Burlington. He was the longtime loving companion of Rosemarie Ferrara for the past 20 years.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Anthony and Sophie (Rybicki) Mello. He was raised and educated in Peabody and attended the Peabody Vocational School, studying auto mechanics. He has been living in Burlington for the past seven years and prior to that lived in Melrose for thirteen years.
He was a dispatcher and worked operations and served many other functions, first with Waste Management in Somerville for 25 years and recently for Riccella Enterprise in Methuen for the past five years.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War who served stateside with the United States Army in the mid 1960’s.
He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and golfing and also enjoyed meeting people. He loved the Coast of Maine and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Besides his loving companion, Rosemarie, he is survived by two brothers, Thomas Mello and Philip and his wife Marilyn Mello, all of Peabody, a sister, Roberta and her husband Arthur Wentzel of Beverly, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Robert E. Mello.
His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, NEW FACILITY, 82 LYNN STREET, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
