Obituary of Martha (Panchenko) "Bupchi" Cronin

Martha (Panchenko) Bupchi Cronin, 88, of Peabody, died Wednesday at the Rosewood Nursing Center, Peabody after a long illness.. She was the wife of the late Francis Cronin. She was born in Peabody on July 13, 1915, the daughter of the late James and Marina (Mazurenka) Panchenko and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was first employed at the former CBS Hytron Co. of Danvers for a few years. Later she worked in the Leather Industry in Peabody at Modern Leather Co. and at the Posse Leather Co. for 20 years prior to her retirement in 1965. She had been active in the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center and served as membership secretary for 14 years. She also volunteered and taught knitting at the Welch School in Peabody. She enjoyed bowling, knitting and playing beano. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Stanley Carl Seaberg of Beverly, three sons and daughters-in-law, James and Agnes Tootsie Cronin, John and Joyce Cronin and Joseph and Corrine Cronin all of Peabody, a sister, Lillian Pasternak of Danvers, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity United Methodist Church, 16 Sylvan St., Danvers. Visiting hours on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center, 79 Central St., Peabody, Ma 01960 in her memory.
