Obituary of Clement E. Julien
Clement E. Julien, 94, of Topsfield, died Wednesday
Evening at the Salem Hospital after an extended illness. He was the beloved husband of
The late Rose E. (Arsenault) Julien whom he married in 1929.
Born in Salem, Ma. on December 11, 1907, he was the son of the late Charles and
Emma (LeFebvre) Julien. As a young boy, he and his family resided between Legal,
Alberta, Canada and Salem, Ma. until settling in Salem in 1925. After his marriage, he
Built a home at 7 Scenic Road, Peabody where he raised his family and lived for 60 years
before moving to Topsfield in 1996.
He had been employed at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard for 12 years as a welding foreman during which time he invented several safety devices that were used at the shipyard. He later became a building contractor and built several homes in the local
area. He was a lifetime member of the Carpenters Union Local # 26.
A visit to Alberta, Canada in 1996 with 2 of his daughters prompted Mr. Julien to
write his memoirs as he visited his old homestead. This project was completed in 1998 at
the age of 90. These memoirs will serve as a living legacy for his family and friends.
He was the father and father-in-law of Jeanne and Jean Malenfant of Topsfield,
Joan and Jack Keating of Chelmsford, Charlene Smith of Lynnfield, Lynda and Paul
Regan of Rowley, John Julien of Lynn and Joseph and Maria Julien of Peabody. He is
also survived by 17 grandchildren, 19 great Grandchildren and seveal nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Raymond, Alexander and Paul Julien.
His Funeral will be held on Monday at 8:00 a.m from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut
St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill - Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Lynn St., Peabody at 9:00 A.M. Burial in Puritan Lawn
Memorial Park, Peabody. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Relatives
and friends kindly invited. Those who prefer may make donations to Hospice of the
Northshore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma. 01923 in his memory.
