Obituary of Irene (Spaneas) Kardaris
Irene Rena (Spaneas) Kardaris, 90, beloved wife of James Kardaris, died peacefully Friday morning.
Born in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Stephen & Rubini (Petronelas) Spaneas. She lived in Salem in her youth and attended Salem schools, and attended Essex Agricultural School. She lived in Peabody for the last 44 years.
Mrs. Kardaris loved taking care of her family, crafts & sewing, was a communicant at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, and was a member of the Philiptohos Society.
She is survived by: her husband, James Kardaris of Peabody, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage; two daughters, Diane Kardaris of Lynn and Stephanie Cohen of Laguna Nigel, CA; one sister, Alice Yiatrakos of Salem, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter Spaneas, Pedro Spaneas, and Spero Spaneas.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vasilios Altar Fund, Paleologos St., Peabody, MA 01960.
