Obituary of George Spiliotis

George Spiliotis, 71, of Davis Terrace, Peabody, died Thursday evening at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband Of Elsie (Carnevale) Spiliotis with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Louis and Anastasia (Albani) Spiliotis and was a graduate of Peabody Vocational High School in 1948. He first worked at the Ford Motor Company in Beverly as a mechanic. In July Of 1951 he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War and served as an airplane Mechanic prior to his discharge as a sergeant in 1953. He then worked as a shipper for the Arrow Leather Co. of New York at the Peabody, Ma. plant for 28 years. Later he worked at the Bonnie Leather Co. in Salem prior to his retirement 8 years ago. He enjoyed making Leather Belts , gardening and being with his family. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and his companion, Paul D. Spiliotis and Jackie and their son, Michael all of Salem, Ma.; 5 sisters and 2 brother-in-laws, Jennie Retos, Mary Espinola, Virginia and Edwin Dutille and Helen Mc Donald all of Peabody and Connie and John Perakis of Lewiston, N.Y. and many nieces and nephews. He was the Brother of the late Paul, Andrew and Constance Spiliotis, Emily Lawrence and Isabelle Koulas who died last February. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
