Obituary of Jose Manuel Picanco
Jose Manuel Picanco, 54, of Peabody, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning at Salem Hospital.
Born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal he was the son of the late Virginia Espinola Chaves and Jose Manuel Picanco. He was raised and educated in Portugal before immigrating to the United States in August of 1976. He has been living in Peabody for the past 28 years.
While living in Peabody, he worked for Mello’ s Bakery as a Packager until the closing of the store. He was a member of the Club Luis de Cameos, the Portuguese American War Veterans, Post #1 and was a member of the Portuguese American Band. He also enjoyed fishing and was known for his gardening expertise.
He is survived by many friends in the Portuguese Community as well many cousins and other friends.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chesnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 6 until 8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
