Obituary of Flora (Souza) Viera

Flora (Souza) Viera PEABODY Flora (Souza) Viera, 88, beloved wife of the late Joseph Viera, died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening at the Hunt Retirement and Skilled Nursing Center in Danvers following a long illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Madruga) Souza. She lived in Salem in her youth and attended Salem schools. She lived in Peabody for many years, then in Rowley for several years before living in Danvers for the last six years. Mrs. Viera was a very dedicated, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Together with her late husband, she was a Partner, Owner/Operator of the J.F.M. Lunch in Salem for five years, Owner/Operator of Viera Upholstering in Salem and Peabody for over 45 years, and the Viera Auction Gallery in Rowley for 30 years before retiring six years ago. She was involved with the Council on Aging in Rowley,fundraising for St. John’ s Prep in Danvers, and supportive grandmother for her grandchildren’ s activities, and loved music. She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Maureen & Jim Lapointe of Danvers; three grandsons, Jay of CT, Brian of Yarmouth, and Dana of West Brookfield; eight loving great-grandchildren; one brother, Alfred Souza of Athol, several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph, and two brothers, Edward Souza and Frank Souza.. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, Danvers, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial Donations may be made to St. John’ s Prep Development, Spring St., Danvers, MA 01923. -30-
