Obituary of Earl C. Freeman

Earl C. Freeman Lynnfield--Earl C. Freeman, 89, beloved husband of Helen (Mendalka) Freeman of Lynnfield, died unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Hospital in Burlington on Saturday evening. Born in Saugus, he was the son of the late Cortland Hamilton & Edith Rachel (Taylor) Freeman. He attended Saugus schools, graduating from Saugus High School. During World War II, Mr. Freeman was a Machinist and Tool & Dye Engineer whose efforts in manufacturing assisted the war effort while stateside. He continued to Own & Operate the Northern Manufacturing Plant in Methuen for his entire career. He was a self-educated man who continued with classes at Harvard University, and enjoyed tinkering with items around the house. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed his cottage in Maine, and boating & fishing on the lake. He was self-taught in music, and played the Saxophone and Clarinet as part of the Fran Richie Band. This was a fateful gift, as he was playing at the Kimball's Starlight in Lynnfield, he met his wife, Helen, and soon was married to share 65 wonderful years of life together. He is survived by: his wife, Helen (Mendalka) Freeman of Lynnfield; he was dear father of Gail Cavanaugh of Wilmington, and loving grandfather of Scott Cavanaugh of Lowell and Kristine Demotses of Hampton, NH, and he leaves two great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Graveside Funeral Ceremony on Wednesday at 1:30 PM in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody where burial will follow.
