Obituary of Edna M. (Driscoll) Phillips

Edna M. (Driscoll) Phillips 90 years, wife of the late Harry J. Spike Philllips, died Thursday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Mrs. Phillips was born in Sidney Mines Nova Scotia on October 5, 1913 daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Ferguson) Driscoll. She was raised in Salem and graduated from the Essex Agricultural School in Danvers. She resided in Salem before moving to Peabody in 1970. Mrs. Phillips was employed as a presser for 20 years at the Mayflower Cleansers in Marblehead until her retirement in 1984. Prior to this she had been employed for many years at the former Hammond Laundry in Peabody. As hobbies she enjoyed knitting, crafts, crocheting and sewing. She is survived by a son, Peter E. Phillips of Salem; a daughter Margaret E. Tootsie Cowhig of Salem; a brother, Donald Driscoll of Lynn; a sister, Audrey Latusky of Peabody; a daughter-in-law, Mae Phillips of Arlington; 13 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son Henry J. Phillips also predeceased her in 2002. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
