Obituary of Paul Arnold Madden

Paul Arnold Madden, 67, a retired Sergeant with the Lynnfield Police Dept, died Thursday at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Boston, MA on August 15, 1936, the son of the late John and Madeline (Arnold) Madden and was raised in Revere and resided in Lynnfield and later in Peabody. Following his graduation from Revere High, he entered the US Army and served in the Korean War until his discharge in 1957. He then entered the US Naval Reserves where he served for 29 years retiring as a Naval Chief in 1989 doing duty in New London and Groton Ct. He had been a member of the Lynnfield Police Department for 41 years retiring 3 years ago as a Sergeant. He was a past commander of the Middleton American Legion, and was a member of the Wakefield Lodge of Elks and the VFW Post 1011 of Peabody. He enjoyed playing golf at Lynnfield Center Golf Course and spending time with his family. He was the former husband of Beverly (Melanson) Madden. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Darryl and Lorraine Madden of Keene, NH, David and Sheryl Madden of Methuen and Douglas and Maryellen Madden of Haverhill, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Deidre and David Ball of Easley, SC, his Life partner, Elizabeth Betty (Mc Ginn) Bellerose of Peabody, MA, 4 brothers, John Madden of FL, William and Robert Madden of NC, Lawrence Madden of SC, a sister, Mrs. Margaret Crocker of West Barnstable, MA, 11 grandchildren, a great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Madden. His funeral will be held on Monday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the No Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers,Ma. 01923. Burial will be at Sea at a later date.
