Obituary of Antonio C. Rocha

Antonio C. Rocha 73 years, husband of Maria C. (Barata) Rocha, died Friday afternoon at his home after a brief illness. Mr. Rocha was born on December 12, 1930 in Terceira Azores Portugal son of the late Antonio Coelho and Carolina Borges (Linhares) Da Rocha. He was raised and educated in Portugal. He immigrated to the United States in 1971 making his home in Salem before moving to Peabody in 1992. Mr. Rocha due to a disability was unable to work. He devoted his time to his family and also enjoyed gardening, tending to his grape vines, playing cards and traveling. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 50 years of marriage, he is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Antonio S. and Maria Fatima Rocha of Salem, Carlos M. and Teresa Rocha of Peabody; 3 sisters, Maria San Jose of Salem, Nazare Rodrigues of Cumberland RI and Maria Rocha of Portugal; 3 grandchildren, Antonio J. Rocha, Marlene P. Calisto and Sandra C. Rocha all of Peabody; 2 great grandchildren, Savannah Calisto and Destinee Calisto of Peabody, several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Carolina Rocha and Durvalina Rocha, predeceased him. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody.
