Obituary of Manuel Fialho

Manuel Fialho, 90, of Peabody died Friday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Center, Peabody after a short illness. He was the husband of Cecilia (Furtado) Fialho with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He was born in Centerville, California on February 4, 1914, the son of the late Francisco and Candida (Alves) Fialho and later moved with his family to the Azores, Portugal where he resided before moving to Peabody in 1964. He had been employed at the Cut-Rite Leather Company of Peabody for 20 years prior to his retirement in 1980. He was a soccer coach and player for the CLC Soccer teams in Peabody for many years. Surviving him besides his wife are 3 sons and two daughters-in-law, Victor Fialho of Georgetown, George and Gail Fialho of Salem and Eduardo and Pam Fialho of Haverhill, MA., 3 daughters, Maria Candida Angel of Peabody, Luisa Collins of Beverly and Eduarda Cordeiaro of CA., a brother, Henriquez Fialho and a sister, Maria Fonseca both of Portugal, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. He was the brother of the late Francisco Fialho and the father of the late Luisa Fialho and Lubelia Stradely. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
