Obituary of Sidney A. Ferreira

Sidney A. Ferreira, 35, of Ridgecrest, CA, and formerly of Peabody, MA died Friday, July 30, 2004 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 395 in Johannesburg, CA. He was born in Santos, Brazil on March 1, 1969, the son of Nair (Alves) Ferreira of Peabody and the late Antonio A. Ferreira. He was a graduate of Peabody High School and attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in New Jersey. He was first employed as a protégé of the late Milt Neil, a legendary Disney animator from its Golden Age in the 1940s. After some free - lancing for such companies as Toyota, Comedy Central and Warner Brother Brothers Television, he moved to California eight years ago to realize his life long dream of working for the Disney Company as an animation artist where he worked on numerous productions, including the Animal Kingdom in Disneyworld, FL., Volcano Eruption at Tokyo, Disney, and Pirates of the Caribbean at Euro Disney. He also worked for Vivendi /Knowledge Adventure where he co-developed the Jumpstarts educational software line for children. He had been a professor of Arts and Animation for the past year at the Cerro Coso Community College in Ridgecrest, CA and did free lancing for CAA/ Gregarious Ink. He enjoyed playing the drums and belonged to a Jazz Band in California. He also enjoyed astronomy , fishing and being outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Julietta (Jedwabski) Ferreira of Ridgecrest and formerly of Danvers, MA, his mother Nair Ferreira of Peabody, 2 brothers and sisters-in-law and a nephew, Sergio and Stacie and Seth Ferreira of Melrose and Bryon and Amy Ferreira of Peabody, his father and mother-in-law, Tadeusz and Isabella Jedwabski of Danvers, MA , 2 sister-in-laws, Anita and Loretta Jedwabski of Danvers. His funeral will be held on Saturday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:45 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
