Obituary of Louis P. Goutzos

Louis P. Goutzos, 74, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died Tuesday evening at his home following a lengthy illness. He was the loving life long partner of Edwina LaBrecque of Peabody. Born in Peabody, he was the son of Olga (Bassios) Goutzos of Peabody and the late Peter Goutzos. He was educated in Peabody, attended Peabody Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1948. He lived in Salem for forty years and recently moved back to Peabody. Mr. Goutzos was a professional Photographer for over 40 years, retiring in 2001. He was a self-taught photographer who started his career with the William Charles Studio. Louis was a member of the Professional Photographers of Massachusetts and the New England Professional Photographers Assn and a life-time member of the Professional Photographers of America ,and the American Society of Photographers. He was currently in line for his Fellowship Award which only 50 people in the world hold. Louis work has appeared in the Professional Photographers of America Loan Collection Book and has also appeared on the cover of the National Magazine, Professional Photographer . His photographs are displayed in the Photographer’ s Hall of Fame in Oklahoma. He was awarded Master Photographer in 1967 and five years later was awarded the Craftsman Master Photographer. He was a member of the Breakfast Club of the Salem Diner. He is survived besides his mother by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Peter Goutzos of Bucksport, ME, and Perry and Julie Goutzos of Salem; a daughter Paula Goutzos Reynolds of Kingsport, TN., and their mother Flora Freeman Goutzos of Peabody; Edwina’ s son, Sean LaBrecque of Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Kristin Goutzos, Peter Morrissey, Alexa, Christa, and Stephen Goutzos, and Caitlin Reynolds; a great grandchild, Christopher Moutsoulas, and two nieces. He was the brother of the late Michael and Charles Goutzos. His Funeral service will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service fro 4 until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NSMC Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
