Obituary of Evelyn (Aycock) Danforth

Evelyn (Aycock) Danforth, 94, of Peabody, MA, died Wednesday at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfboro, NH after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Ashton Danforth. She was born in Unionville, GA on September 23, 1909, the daughter of the late John and Sally (Taylor) Aycock and later lived in Florida before moving to Peabody 72 years ago. She had first worked with her husband at the A.G. Danforth Co., Landscape and Florist Shop on Lowell St., Peabody. Later she became a hairdresser and operated the Jane Mallard Beauty Salon in Salem, MA for 22 years prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the South Congregational Church, Peabody for many years and Also belonged to the Peabody Council on Aging where she taught classes in Quilting design. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Mary Danforth of Beverly, 2 daugthers and a son-in-law, Dorothy and James O’ Brien of Peabody, Ma and Joan Hahn of Topeka, KS, a surviving sister, Dorothy Krawcyck of Leesburg, FL, 5 grandchildren and several Great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility. A visitation will be held Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:30 AM prior to the Service. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the South Church Memorial Fund, 64 Prospect St., Peabody MA 01960 in her memory.
