Obituary of Jeannette C. Pratt

Jeannette Cecilia Pratt, 73, a former Stanley Home Products Executive, died July 12, 2006 at the Shaughnessey Rehab. Hospital, Salem after a long illness. She was born in Peabody on August 4,1932, the second daughter of the late Harry A. and Wilhelmina (Semas) Pratt and was raised on Mt. Vernon St., Peabody attending Peabody Schools graduating from Peabody High School in 1950. In her youth, she played the drums in the Portuguese Band and participated in several parades on the North Shore. She was first employed at the GTE Sylvania plant on Loring Ave, Salem for 15 years and belonged to their bowling team winning many trophies. She then joined Stanley Home Products and quickly advanced to Sales Manager and later the District Sales Manager. In her tenure, she built her sales district to over 200 representatives and was the recipient of many awards including the distinguished President Award. Jeannette was completely devoted to her family and was the primary caretaker of her parents in their last years. She enjoyed taking vacations with family members and sharing the memories. She later was diagnosed with ALS and had battled this disease for several years. Throughout the whole time, she remained strong and brave and made new friends with her caregivers and Shaughnessey Kaplan Rehab. Hospital. She is survived by her siblings, Emily Pratt Jones of Palm Bay, Fl, Harry A. and Kathy Pratt of Danvers, Lydia Pratt Pender of West Yarmouth, Ma, Lee D. and Aileen (Pratt) Day of Marblehead and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 10:00 until 11:30 AM. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made in Jeannette’s name to the ALS Association, 75 Mc Niel Way, Suite 310, Dedham, MA 02026.
