Obituary of Robert F. Hughes
Robert F. Hughes, 77, of Peabody and formerly of Everett, died Wednesday evening at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Marie (O’ Donnell) Hughes.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Ernest and Marguerite (Healey) Hughes. He was raised and educated in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. He later lived in Salem and has spent the last 27 years living in Peabody.
He was a veteran of World War II, who served with the United States Army.
Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 25 years as an accountant for Union Hospital in Lynn. He enjoyed reading Tom Clancy Novels as well as traveling.
He is survived by a daughter, Karen Hughes of Providence, Rhode Island, and three nieces. He was the brother of the late Donald Hughes.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5 until 8 PM. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
