Obituary of Raymond Bolton

Raymond Ray Bolton, 69, beloved husband of Marthe (Methe) Bolton, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home Thursday following a long illness. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Fergus and M. Winifred (Archer) Bolton. He lived in New Bedford in his youth and attended schools there. He graduated from New Bedford High School. He then continued his studies with New Bedford Textiles, and Northeastern University. He moved to Peabody in 1966, and lived for the last 38 years. Mr. Bolton was employed with Textron Industries where he worked as a Drafting Supervisor and Configuration Management for 28 years, until his retirement in March of 1993. He was a man devoted to his family, and also his faith as a communicant at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Fourth Degree Order of Cardinal Medeiros in New Bedford, was active in a variety of sports programs for the youth in Peabody. He was a Purchasing Agent with Little League, a Coach in Babe Ruth Baseball, Coached in CYO Basketball at St. John’ s in Peabody, and active on the Peabody Park Commission under Richard Walker. He is survived by: his wife, Marthe (Methe) Bolton of Peabody, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage; two sons, Peter Bolton of Billerica and Steve Bolton of Salem; one daughter, Elizabeth Chamberlain of Blairs, VA; one brother, Dennis Bolton of New Bedford; eight GRANDCHILDREN, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
