Peter was my mother's favorite mayor. (Perhaps the fact that his name was the same as mine, and that we both graduated in the PHS Class of 1953, helped.) She looked forward to every parade, and stood at the corner of Blaney Ave. and Washington St. anticipating that "my Mayor Torigian" would break out of the line of march to rush over, and give her a big hug. He always did. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

So saddened to learn of the passing of Pete. Spent the weekend reminiscing about the early campaigns in the 70's. Seems like yesterday Pete was walking his route, "up the hill" and would put his bag down to join us kids in an inpromptu football game in the street.
My mother is deeply saddened, and will miss seeing Pete at the high school reunions dearly. What a great bunch of classmates he had! We're all better people for having known "Pete".

Bruce Lane

Dear Mrs.Torigian & Family,
Our entire family was so sad to hear
about your loss. Mayor Torigian was
not only the "best" Mayor Peabody ever
had, but he was truly admired for
the wonderful caring person he was
to all people. We hosted one of the
first coffees for him at our home
in Peabody when he first ran for Mayor.
We lived in Peabody from 1973 until
we moved in 1998, so we were there
during most of his years as Mayor.
We most admired what a wonderful
family man he was and how much he
loved his family. Please know that
our thoughts and prayers are with
you. Pete was my kind-of-guy. Many times I went back to Peabody to visit my family relatives I would visit Pete at city hall. He always took time to see me and reminisce about our high school days, and discuss our families. I will surely miss seeing him. The last time I saw him was at our 50th high school reunion in September 2003. Even though he was retired from being the Mayor Of Peabody, which is as tough as being a CEO of a big company, he never changed and always took time to say hello.
My sincerest sympathy to his wife Jackie and the rest of his family.
