Obituary of Elizabeth June Smith

Elizabeth June (Olsen) Smith, 70, of Peabody and formerly of East Boston, died late Tuesday evening at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Donald Smith. Born in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Foley) Olsen. She was raised and educated in East Boston, later lived in Washington D.C, Florida and has spent the last 39 years living in Peabody. She was a proud veteran who was stationed in Washington D.C. during the Korean War, serving with the United States Navy WAVES. She dedicated her life to her family and through it all; she stayed true to herself, as she had always done, by being a woman with a firm shell surrounding a tender heart and a giving spirit. Besides her devoted husband, she is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Duane Smith of Peabody, and J.Scott and Suzanne Smith of Cape Coral, Fla; a daughter, Christine Smith of Peabody; a sister, Patricia Storniolo of Las Vegas, NV and two grandchildren, Jessica and Jennifer Smith. She was the sister of the late Harold Olsen Jr., Kathleen Olsen and Constance Arpino. Her visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private with burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
