Obituary of Margaret M. Hynes

Margaret M. Hynes, 90, of Peabody died Saturday evening at the Rosewood Nursing Home in West Peabody after a long illness. She was born in Saugus on December 11, 1915, the daughter of the late John and Nellie (Morrisy) Hynes and was raised in Lynn before moving to Peabody 42 years ago. She was a graduate of Lynn English High School and the Bryant Stratton Business School in Boston. She had been a waitress at the former Bernstein Delicatessen in Lynn for many years. She later became a nurse attendant at the former Danvers State Hospital for 18 years prior to her retirement. She was a good bowler and belonged to the Building 40 Women’s Bowling league in Lynn and later bowled for the St. Ann’s Girls league at Metro Bowl in Peabody. She enjoyed knitting and traveling and did volunteering at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody. She also belonged to the Peabody Council on Aging and the Golden Agers. She was the sister of the late John, Thomas, Raymond, Henry, Vincent, Francis and Morris Hynes. She is survived by two sister-in-laws, Nellie Hynes of Swampscott and Geralding Hynes of Peabody and several nieces and nephews . A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in St. Ann’s Church, Lynn St., Peabody. A Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM prior to the Mass at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lynn.
