Obituary of Kushma Rabchenuk

Kushma Rabchenuk, 88, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Friday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home. He was the devoted husband of the late Annie (Dubie) Rabchenuk. Born in Chelsea, he was the son of the late Sidor and Melanie (Sauchuk) (Rabchenuk) Stepenuk. He was raised and educated in Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. He was a veteran who served with the United States Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the American Theatre Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbons, as well as the Victory and Good Conduct Medals. After the War, he worked in Peabody’ s Leather industry for over 28 years before retiring from A.C. Lawrence. He enjoyed watching wrestling on Television and watching the local softball teams play on the North Shore. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Rabchenuk and Anna Stepenuk, both of Peabody; two nieces, Marlene Raebeck of Peabody and Linda O’ Donnell of Danvers. He was the brother of the late Joseph Rabchenuk. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Salem at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, 64 Forrester St., Salem, MA 01970.
