Obituary of Jessie L. (Lee) Thorpe

Jessie L. (Lee) Thorpe 89 years of Peabody, wife of the late Morgan F. Thorpe, died Friday at the Pilgrim Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Peabody. Mrs. Thorpe was born December 24, 1914 in Peabody daughter of the late Howard and Lila (Crump) Thorpe. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the city. Prior to her retirement in 1977 she had been employed for many years as a waitress at the Ligget Pharmacy at the North Shore Shopping Center. Mrs. Thorpe is survived by a daughter, Barbara Bergstrom of Peabody; a son and his wife, William and Peggy Thorpe of Peabody; a sister, Ada Bradley of Exeter NH; 2 daughters-in-law, Irma Thorpe of NC and Nancy Thorpe of Peabody; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, Robert Thorpe and George Thorpe; a granddaughter, Maureen Perry and two sisters, Alice Pzegeo and Edith L’ Italien, predeceased her. A private family service will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location. There are no visiting hours. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
