Obituary of John Cordeiro
John Cordeiro, 74, of Peabody died Thursday evening at his residence surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was the husband of Odette (Faria- Oliveira) Cordeiro with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
He was born in Sao Miguel, Acores Island, Portugal on March 4, 1934, the son of the late Marino and Lusia (Trindade) Cordeiro and had resided there before moving to Peabody 36 years ago.
He had been a machine operator in the plastic industry for over 30 years having worked
at U S Plastics Co. in Lynn for many years prior to his retirement.
He was an avid fisherman and fished for many years off the Salem Willows Pier. He had a love of animals helping all species and enjoyed gardening. He was a loving family man who enjoyed all his children and grandchildren.
Surviving him besides his wife are 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Maria Natal and Richard Sconsoni of Plaistow, NH, Adriana Cordeiro of Peabody and Elizabeth and Wayne Malionek of Salem, Ma; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, John Oliveira Cordeiro of Peabody and Mario Jorge and Cheryl Cordeiro of Danvers; a brother and sister-in-law, Gabriel and Mary Cordeiro of Lowell, Ma, 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Alda and Ramiro Correia and Angela and John Estrela all of Peabody, 9 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 4 step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Jeffrey and Connor Sconsoni.
His Funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
