Obituary of Elsie T. (Bettencourt) Parent
Elsie T. Parent, 88, of Salem, died Saturday evening in Salem after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Leo Parent.
She was born in Peabody on May 16, 1918, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rita (Gill) Bettencourt and had resided in Salem most of her life. She had been employed at the former GTE Sylvania at the Loring Ave, Salem plant for 30 years prior to her retirement and was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club.
She was a devoted mother to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Arthur and Marlene Parent of Peabody and Richard J. and Joanne Parent of Salem, two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen and Rene Demers of Rockport and Laureen Parent and her companion, William Mc Carthy of Salem, her grandchildren, Christine, Amy and Kimberly Parent, Brian and Gregory Predki, Brandy L. Parent-Bouderalt and his wife Lori and Richard Parent-Bouderalt and her great grandchildren, Kyle, Branden, Nicholas and Megan Predki, her sisters Dorothy Ortins and Lucy Savageau of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Paoline and Agnes Iwanicki.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the new 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody/Salem line at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
