Dorothy L. (Rhoades) Armstrong
PEABODY Dorothy L. (Rhoades) Armstrong, 73, beloved wife of the late George Armstrong, Jr., died Sunday evening at her home following a long illness.
Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Pearl (Dickie) Armstrong. She lived in Lynn in her youth and attended Lynn schools. She graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1948, and the Lynn Hospital School of Nursing. She lived in Peabody for the last 25 years, and in Lynn for several years after that.
Mrs. Armstrong was a very dedicated wife and mother. Besides her taking care of the household, she was also a Nursing Assistant and worked with the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) in Peabody and affiliated with J.B. Thomas Hospital. She also was a Bookkeeper for her son’ s company, Armstrong Machine in Beverly.
She was an avid music fan, and was affiliated with the Musketeers and Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Peabody, loved playing piano & keyboards, and enjoyed Swing Jazz and Big Band Music, and Lawrence Welk. She had been a member at St. Paul’ s Episcopal Church in Peabody.
She is survived by: two sons, Raymond Armstrong & Ruthann Greene of Peabody, and David & Kim Armstrong of Byfield; two daughters, Pamela & Kenneth Sullivan and Cheryl Armstrong & Michael Shultz both of Middleton; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Thursday in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, MA to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
