Obituary of Anthony P. Petrillo

Anthony P. Petrillo, 79, of South Peabody, died Tuesday morning at his home after a long illness. He was the husband of Jo-Ann (Mooka) Petrillo with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was born in New York City, NY on November 17, 1924, the son of the late Anthony and Irene Petrillo and had resided in Peabody for the past 50 years. He had been a lineman operator with the former Boston and Maine Railroad for thirty years prior to his retirement. He then became a trainer and owner of many horses that he bred and raced at Suffolk Downs and at Rockingham Park in NH for 15 years. A distinguished veteran, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star and 2 purple hearts while serving in the US Army in Normandy, the Rhineland, and Central Europe during WW 11. Surviving him besides his wife are a son, Michael and Sheila Petrillo of Peabody, a daughter and son-in-law, Lu-Ann and Robert Glabicky of Peabody, 5 grandchildren, Courtney, Hayley and Michael Petrillo and De-Ann Larrabee and Sean Glabicky all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lucille Mahoney. His Funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:30 until 11:00 AM prior to the service. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
