Obituary of Franklin J. Sorrento, Sr.

Franklin J. Sorrento, 57, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died Sunday afternoon at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen (Massung) Sorrento with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Mabel (Atkins) Sorrento. He was raised and educated in Lynn, attended Lynn Public Schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1965. He later attended Electrical Trade School in Boston. He has been living in Peabody for the past 9 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked for over 24 years as a machinist at General Electric River Works Plant in Lynn. He was a member of the New Hampshire Gun Club, enjoyed playing cribbage, listening to music, photography, and watching all of Boston’ s professional sports teams. He is survived by a son, Franklin J. Sorrento, Jr of Manchester, NH; a daughter and son-in-law, Jaima and Michael Baldwin of West Townsend; 2 sisters, Joan Pelletier of Titusville, Fla and Michelle Sorrento-Mugford of Peabody; a uncle, Jimmy Sorrento of Revere; three grandchildren, Jarod Michael, Elizabeth Diane, and Justin Thomas, two god daughters, Amy Barr and Stephany Petrillo; 13 nieces and nephews and 17 grandnieces and nephews; his very dear and close friends, Bill and Bobbie Ewing of Peabody and Gary and Bev Barr of Lynn along with several close friends. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Wednesday from 4 until 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Assoc., 1 Bromfield St., Suite 5, Boston, Ma 02108.
