Obituary of Judy Mae (Brown) Steeves

Judy Mae (Brown) Steeves, 60, of Peabody, died early Sunday afternoon at the North Shore Medical Center, Salem Hospital, Salem, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Douglas A. Steeves with whom she shared over 41 years of marriage. Born in Waterville, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen (Poulin) Brown. She was raised and educated in Maine, later lived in Salem for 14 years and has spent the last 10 years living in Peabody. She worked for a few years as a Home Health Care Aid to many residents on the North Shore, but mostly she devoted her time to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bingo and had an extensive angel collection. She is survived by a son and daughter and son-in-law, Douglas Steeves Jr., and his wife Carmella of Waterville, Maine, two daughters and a son-in-law, Darlene and Carlos Capela and Linda Steeves, all of Peabody, two brothers, Lawrence Brown of New Mexico and Leonard Brown of Anson, Maine, three sisters, Nancy Welch of New Hampshire, Sandra Collins of Salem, and Donna Bertoni of Peabody, and is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and friends. She was the sister of the late Joyce Estes. Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM Noon at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name, to C/O 20 Church Street, Peabody, MA 01960.
