Obituary of Russell C. Watson

Russell C. Watson PEABODY Russell C. Watson, 79, beloved husband of Priscilla (Clark) Watson, died suddenly and unexpectedly in Salem Hospital on Monday after being stricken while driving. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Arthur C. and H. Gladys (Face) Clark. He lived in Lynn in his youth and attended Lynn public schools. He graduated from Lynn English High School, Class of 1943. Following his graduation, Mr. Watson immediately went to the U.S. Army, where he served in the European Theatre during World War II. Upon his return Stateside, he went into the family business as a Wholesale Grocer with George J. Face Company in Lynn until the late 1950’ s. He then went on his entreprenuerial manner, as Founder developing Watson Carbonic Gas & Syrup in 1961, which supplies Coke products for Fountain Service throughout the North Shore. He worked with his son, and was still working on an occasional basis. He was proud of his patriotic duty, and was a member of the VFW Fidelity Post 1011 in Peabody, he was member of the Peabody Historical Society which lead to the Lynnfield Militia Group which did Colonial battle re-enactments, a member of the Amity-Mosaic Lodge A.F. & A.M. in Danvers, the Shriners Aleppo Temple in Wilmington, and as a simple enjoyment of family and friends. He is survived by: his wife, Priscilla (Clark) Watson of Peabody, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Watson& Joan Allenchey of Foxboro, and Stephen & Susan Watson of Reading; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcia & Joseph DiSalvo of Aspen, CO; four grandchildren, Zachary Watson of Foxboro, and Stephanie Watson, Joseph Watson, and Natalie Watson all of Reading; one brother, Richard & Naomi Watson of Wolfeboro, NH, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Coulter. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. Location, Peabody. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
