Obituary of Alli (Kankalo) Lee

Alli (Kankalo) Lee PEABODY Alli (Kankalo) Lee, 81, beloved wife of the late Eric Lee, Sr., died Wednesday morning at the Rosewood Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center in Peabody following a brief illness. Born in Finland, she was the daughter of the late Eino and Mary (Kuutila) Kankalo. She emigrated to the United States, living in Peabody in her youth. She attended Peabody schools and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1940. She then studied in Stenography school. Mrs. Lee was a Stenographer with the FBI, initially in Washington, DC before transferring to the New York Office. Mrs. Lee spent time in the United States, and also much time living in Finland, actually traveling between the two countries. While in Finland she worked for Gulf Oil. She spent the most time with Sanborn’ s Motor Express as Executive Secretary in their Corporate Office for 23 years before retiring. She was an active member at St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church in Peabody, enjoyed cooking and visiting with friends and family, and traveling. She is survived by: one son, Eric Lee, Jr. of Peabody; one daughter and son-in-law, Pirkko Pixie & Erkki Lamppu of Fort Pierce, FL; one granddaughter, Diana Lamppu of Roslindale, MA; one sister, Ruth Waisanen of Denmark, ME. She was preceded in death by a sister Helen at birth. Her Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday at 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held from 5 to 6:50 P.M. Cremation will laeter, and committal in the Spring up in Maine. Memorial donations may be made to the St. John Lutheran Church, cor. Ellsworth Rd. & King St., Peabody, MA 01960.
