Obituary of Amelia A. Hallinan
Amelia A. (Petkus) Hallinan, 86, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Hunt Nursing and Rehab Center in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Maurice T. Hallinan with whom she shared over 63 years of marriage.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of the late Sylvestra & Sophie (Savitch) Petkus. She had lived in Peabody for most of her life and had attended school in Peabody.
She was a devoted mother who raised her family before she went to work and had worked for 10 years at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody prior to her retirement in 1984. She was a communicant of St. Ann’ s Church in Peabody and also was a member of the No Trump Bridge Club and the American Lithuanian Club, both of Peabody. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by 3 sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael & Patricia Hallinan, Thomas & Janice Hallinan, and Gerald & Bonnie Hallinan; 6 daughters and 5 sons-in-law, Eileen & Louis Ciman, Maureen & Albert Newhall, Kathleen & Thomas Fabrizio, Noreen & Thomas Sucharewicz, Patricia Hallinan & Peter Armer, and Christine Hallinan; a niece, Linda Petkus; 17 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late David Hallinan and the sister of the late Anthony Petkus.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,at the 20 Church St., Peabody, Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. Ann’ s Church,So. Peabody. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visitation on Thursday from 4-8 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Expressions of Sympathy can be sent to the Roger B. Trask Center, Adult Day Health Program, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.
