Obituary of Jose F. Silva

Jose F. Silva PEABODY Jose F. Silva, 87, beloved husband of Olivia (Nunes) Silva, died unexpectedly at his home on Sunday evening. Born in St. George, Azores, Portugal, he was the son of the late Manuel F. and Isabel (Nunes) Silva. He lived there for many years, and then moved to Angola where he lived for 10 years. He then moved to California in 1976 where he lived for six years, and lived in Peabody for the last 22 years. Mr. Silva was a Farmer until he moved to Peabody, and worked here as a Baker for Mello’ s Bakery on Foster St. until his retirement. He loved earning his life, living off the land as a Farmer, and having sociable gatherings of friends and family. He is survived by: his wife, Olivia (Nunes) Silva of Peabody, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage; four sons, Jose Silva of Peabody, Joao Silva of Salem, Manuel Silva of CA, and Paul Silva of NH; four daughters, Eva M. Silva, Teodora Da Costa, and Izaura Silva all of Peabody, and Olivia Avila of CA; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Angelina Silva of Portugal, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Manuel, Antonio, Armando, and Joao, and his sister Silva Amaral. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
