Obituary of Edward B. Muenninghoff

Edward B. Muenninghoff, 100 years old, formerly of Danvers and Beverly, died early Tuesday morning at the Mascononet Healthcare Center in Topsfield after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Catherine (Higgins) Muenninghoff with whom he shared over 48 years of marriage. He recently celebrated his 100 th Birthday on July 7, 2004 with a large gathering of relatives and friends from Brighton Gardens. He was born on July 7, 1904 in Boston, Ma, the son of the late Bernard J. and Mathilda (Leppelt) Muenninghoff and was graduate of Boston College High School and later Boston College. While living in Boston, he was member of the Holy Trinity Church where he was served as president of the Ushers Club and the Young Men’ s Sodality. He also was president of the Holy Name Society and Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree Bishop Chevron Assembly. He also had been a parishioner of St. John’ s in Beverly and St. Mary’ s in Danvers. Before retiring 44 years ago, Edward worked as an accountant with Mobil Oil and was a founding father of the Mobil Annuitant’ s Club. He is survived by three nieces, Carolyn McGray of Peabody, Alma Nahigian of Boston and Marie Grady of Old Town, Maine. He is also survived by 18 grandnieces and grandnephews, 29 great grandnieces and great grandnephews and 1 great great grandniece. He was the uncle of the late Elizabeth Higgins. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by his nephew, Rev. Michael Hoag S.J. on Saturday at 11:00 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church,552 Cabot St. Beverly to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 - 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Following cremation, burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
