Obituary of Julia (Fernandes) Eaton
BEVERLY Julia (Fernandes) Eaton, 80, died unexpectedly at Beverly Hospital on Tuesday following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Hilda (Neves) Fernandes. She graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1942. She lived in Beverly for the last 53 years.
Mrs. Eaton enjoyed music, especially dancing. As a teenager, she was involved with Beiroes, a Portuguese Dance Group, and played the organ, had a banjo and treasured her father’ s Portuguese Guitar. She was very sociable, loved being with her grandsons and family, and was on the Employees Activity Committee while working at Varian Electronics in Beverly.
Mrs. Eaton worked for 30 years as an Assembler at Varian Electronics, and after her retirement worked part-time in the Bishop Fenwick High School Cafeteria for 10 years until 1998.
She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Debra J. & Patrick W. McCarran of Beverly; a dear friend and companion, Ralph McCarthy of Peabody; two grandsons, Sean Patrick McCarran and Steven William McCarran both of Beverly; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph & Denise Fern, A/K/A Anibal Fernandes, of CA; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lucilia Oulton of Danvers and Lorraine & Arthur Mihelis of Peabody; she was the former wife of Gordon K. Bumpy Eaton of Beverly, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Fern.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Walsh Ave., Peabody. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’ s Children’ s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
