Obituary of Walter Edward Lobley

Walter Edward Lobley, 79, of Lynn, died early Tuesday morning at the Haven Health Care Center in Derry, New Hampshire, following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Juanita (Peoples) Lobley. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Fayette G. and June (Pierce) Lobley. In his youth, he lived in the state of Maine, before moving to Lynn and has resided in Lynn for over 30 years. He was a Chief Petty Officer with over 30 years of service with the United States Navy from 1942 until his retirement in 1974. After his retirement, he worked an additional 10 years in Medical Records at the Melrose/Wakefield Hospital. He was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge 1409 in Peabody and served as Exulted Ruler from 1982-1983. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Dennis Ray Lobley of Arizona, a daughter, Wanda Murphy of Derry, NH, a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Lobley Banks of Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Sandra D. Sexton, Lance C. and Daniel E. Lobley, all of California, Cheryl Bishop of Arizona, and Chris Murphy of New Hampshire; 7 great grandchildren, Maura, Brendan, Matthew, Adam, Liandra, Vaelan, and Aidan. He was the father of the late Lance Fay Lobley. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3-5 PM and 7-9PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Following cremation, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’ s choice.
