Obituary of Myles O. Sheridan

Myles O. Sheridan, 97, of Peabody, died Monday evening at the Salem Hospital after a short illness. He was born in Peabody on August 27, 1907 the son of the late Philip and Julia (Mc Cue) Sheridan and was a lifelong Peabody resident. He was a graduate of Peabody High School, Class of 1927 and was first employed in the Leather Industry at L.B. Southwick Leather Company and later at the former Richard Young Leather Co. He was a WW II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific Theatre from 1942 until his discharge in 1945. Following his discharge, he was the assistant Veterans Agent for 7 years with the City of Peabody. He then was employed with the Peabody Municipal Light Plant for 25 years prior to his retirement. He was a life member of the Leo Council, #508, Knights of Columbus of Peabody and served as a trustee for many years. He was also a member of the Peabody Council on Aging and during the sixties was a mayoral candidate for the City of Peabody. He enjoyed walking around the city every day and was known for his famous white shirt and bow-tie. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan and relished their accomplishment in winning the 2004 World Series. He is survived by 3 nephews, Atty. George Richardson of Lynnfield, Myles O. Sheridan of Lynn and Philip Sheridan of Peabody, 2 nieces, Ann M. Davis of Henderson, NV and Grace E. Richardson of NY City and 5 grandnieces and 1 grandnephew, 2 great grandnieces and 2 great grandnephews. He was the brother of the late Philip, Owen, John, Patrick and Mary Sheridan, Katherine Gauthier and Julia Richardson. His Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM . Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
