Obituary of Frances (Mondello) Candeas

Frances (Mondello) Candeas, 85, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at the Rosewood Nursing Home, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John Candeas. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Andonina (Avalle) Mondello. She raised and educated in Lynn, and has lived in Peabody for the past 42 years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as an assembler, first with GTE Sylvania in Salem and later for Cushman’ s Bakery in Lynn, as a packager. She was an avid beano player who enjoyed playing bingo throughout the North Shore. She also enjoyed crosswords puzzles and reading She is survived by three step daughters, Corinne Muse of Salem, Nancy Pais of Maine, and Cindy Candeas; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Mary Mondello of Lynn; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Donald Hjelm of Danvers, and Josephine Marseglia of Nahant, and was the devoted aunt of several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jackie Cope and step mother of the late John Candeas, Jr. Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
