Obituary of Mary Batista Wright
Peabody, May 9, 2002. Mary (Batista) Wright, 76, of Peabody, died early Thursday
Morning at the Salem Hospital after a prolonged illness. She was the wife of the late
Paul J. Wright. She was born in Salem, Ma. on February 7, 1926, the daughter of the
Late Joseph and Phoebe (Silva) Batista and had resided most of her life in Peabody.
She was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1943 and had been employed at the
New England Sportswear Co. of Peabody for 34 years prior to her retirement 22 years
Ago. She was an avid bingo player, a gardener and loved music and dancing.
She
Also enjoyed knitting and made made fine craft animals that she displayed at craft
Fairs on the North shore.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Ann Wright of Beverly, a sister and brother-in-law, Irene May and Frank Quarterone of Peabody and many nieces , nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Evelyn Ballas, Lucy Ann Batista and Joseph
Baptista Jr.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m.
At the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St., Peabody, of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur
Funeral Home. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Sunday from
5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may
