Obituary of Paul V. Dullea
Paul V. Dullea 75 years, husband of Helen T. (Doherty) Dullea of Peabody, died Thursday morning at Beverly Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Dullea was born on June 6, 1929 in Boston son of the late Walter A. and Edna R. (Barthel) Dullea. He was raised in Boston and graduated from Cathedral High School class of 1946. He pursued his education and received a Bachelor of Science in Economics in 1951 from Boston College, a Master in Business Administration in 1959 from the American International College in Springfield and his Juris Doctorate in 1980 from Suffolk University. He also served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He resided in East Longmeadow before moving to Peabody in 1959.
Mr. Dullea began his working career in Springfield in 1954 as an assistant manager with the Social Security Health and Human Services division was later promoted to manager and from 1981 until his retirement in 1986 he was the Regional Representative of OHFI and worked throughout Massachusetts. Following his retirement he volunteered at the Neighborhood Legal Services in Lynn and also worked for 10 years at Kappy’ s Liquor Store in Peabody.
Mr. Dullea was one of the original members of St. John the Baptist Parish Council and taught C.C.D. classes for many years. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Men’ s Choir, the Marblehead Barber Shop Quartet and the Beverly Barber Shop Quartet Chapter of SPEBSQSA. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, playing cards and was a voracious reader.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 sons and their wives, Paul M. and Catherine Dullea of Byfield, John W. and Robin Dullea of Beverly and Joseph P. and Lynn Dullea of Wilmington; 3 daughters and their husbands, Mary D. and Michael Dewar of Norwood, Patricia A. and Enrique Jurado of Chino, CA and Maureen D. and Bruce Berkowitz of No. Reading; 2 brothers, Walter A. Dullea of Palm Beach, FL and Gerard J. Dullea of New Windsor, NY; 2 sisters, Edna R. Gillis of Marlboro and Arlene M. Dullea of Weymouth; 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His brother Bernard A. Dullea predeceased him.
His funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody.
