Obituary of John Mulhinch Withers

John M. Withers PEABODY John Mulhinch Withers, 79, beloved husband of the late Irene (Linehan) Withers, died in Plant City, FL following a lengthy illness. Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late David and Sarah (Mulhinch) Withers. He attended Lynn schools, and eventually received a degree from Lynn Classical High School. He lived in Peabody approximately 25 years, then in 1984 moved to Florida where he lived for the last 20 years. Prior to his high school graduation, he was drafted into the United States Navy where he served in the SeaBees during World War II. Mr. Withers was employed at the Polaroid Corporation for most of his professional career. He was a Technician in their Cambridge location until taking an early retirement in 1980. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, swimming, square dancing, traveling on cruises, and served as a Past President of the Polaroid Retirement Club (Orlando Chapter). He and his wife Irene were active members of St. Ann’ s Parish in South Peabody. He is survived by: two sons, Brian Withers of Manchester, NH and Thomas Withers of St. Clair Shores, MI; one daughter, Judy Withers of Rochester, NY; two grandchildren, Nicole Withers of Merrimack, NH and Lisa Vyverberg of Rochester, NY; one brother, Robert Withers of Peabody; two sisters, Betty Crowe of Beverly and Margaret Scott of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene (Linehan) Withers eight years ago Relatives and friends are invited to a Gathering and Commemoration of his life on Saturday from 3 to 5 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St. location, Peabody.
