Obituary of Linda R. (Batchelder) Chigas

Linda R. (Batchelder) Chigas PEABODY Linda R. (Batchelder) Chigas, 61, beloved wife of Paul Chigas of Seabrook, NH, and formerly of Peabody, died unexptectedly Friday evening at her home in Seabrook following a brief illness. Born in Portsmouth, NH, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Ruth (Perkins) Batchelder. She lived in Peabody for most of her life and in Seabrook for the last six years. She graduated from North Shore Community College with a degree in Human Services. Mrs. Chigas worked with the Hogan Regional Hospital, the former Danvers State Hospital, and retired recently working in several group homes in the North Shore area. She worked in the capacity of Social Worker for 40 years. She also served as President of the AFSCME Union, Local 1730. She like traveling, especially to Las Vegas, playing cards with her friends, games of chance, and enjoyed giving of herself for family and friends. She is survived by: her husband, Paul Chigas of Seabrook, NH; one son, Thomas J. Chigas of Amesbury, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother Linc Batchelder, and sisters Dorothy Stanley, Karen Ashburn, and Martha Batchelder. . Relatives and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Wednesday morning at 11 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody
