Obituary of Margaret (Sawicki) Owirka Lane

Margaret (Sawicki) Owirka-Lane PEABODY Margaret (Sawicki) Owirka-Lane, 97, beloved wife of the late Adam Owierka and the late James Lane, formerly of 171 Winona St., died unexpectedly Saturday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Bradley Island, Weymouth, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna (Elecna) Sawicki. She lived in Weymouth in her youth and attended Weymouth schools. She also lived in Cambridge for many years, then in Plymouth, Cape Cod in her retirement, and in Peabody for the last 26 years. Mrs. Lane worked in Production at Swift Premium Company in Cambridge for 18 years before retiring 34 years ago. She was a member of the Peabody Golden Agers, and active in the Senior Citizens affairs, liked traveling, and knitting/crochet work, and always loved to visit with friends and family. She lived with five generations of family, and is survived by: two daughters, Mary Potember of Peabody and Ruth De Bono of Reading; one son, Frederick Owirka of Pocasset, MA; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Veronica Dooley of Weymouth, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Adam Owierka, then second husband James Lane, and twin sister Mary Benedict, her other sisters Eleanor Rohan and Veronica Dooley, and a brother, Bronislaw Sawicki. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut ST. location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
