Obituary of Dennis Crowley
Dennis Crowley, 60, of North Andover, Ma died Sunday evening at the Brigham & Women’ s Hospital, Boston after a short illness. He was the husband of Gail M. (Clements) Crowley with whom he shared 13 years of marriage.
He was born in Lynn on October 24, 1944, the son of the late Edwin D. and Edna T. (Conway) Crowley and was raised in Swampscott and had resided in No Andover for the past 13 years.
He was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, class of 1968 with a BS in Marine Engineering and was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy and the
American Merchant Marine. He retired as a chief engineer in 1988 from MEBA Dist. 2 after sailing on numerous bulk and product tankers including the maiden voyages of the
MV Missouri, the MV Dynachem and the MV Lt Lawrence Bobo giant tankers.
Following his retirement in 1988, he worked as a Marine Engineering Consulting Engineer around the world as a marine surveyor and ship superintendent for the American Bureau of Shipping. He loved to cook and enjoyed motorcycling, Skiing, camping and canoeing.
Surviving him besides his wife are a sister, Marion L. Crowley of Peabody, 2 step-sons, Michael T. Stevens of Peabody and Todd L. Stevens
Of Revere, 2 step-grandchildren, Jared Adams and Kyle Ahearn both of Peabody. He was the brother of the late E. David Crowley Jr.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
