To one of the most dedicated Portuguese Teachers, It has been an honor to learn our cultural language from someone who was so devoted to the Portuguese heritage. I will always admire your dedication and perseverance as a teacher and also a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you always and the memories I have of you will last forever.

It is with great sadness that I learn of Maria's passing. I had the honor and pleasure of working with Maria in the Peabody Public Schools. Maria's most important characteristic, was that she was a wonderful person. She was warm, caring, and a pleasure to have a conversation with. Maria always extended a sincere hello to everyone! As head of the Foreign Language Department at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School - she was superb teacher and a tireless advocate for her students, her teachers, and foreign language instruction at all grade levels. Maria, may you rest in peace knowing that you have done so much good and positively touched so many lives.
