Obituary of Rev. Howard P. Schmidt

Rev. Howard P. Schmidt, 87 of Bradford, MA and formerly of Virginia and Pennsylvania went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Norma Mae (Jackson) Schmidt with whom he shared sixty two years of marriage. He was born in Nicholson, PA on October 4, 1931, the son of the late Paul and Lila (Stanton) Schmidt and received his bachelor of Science degree from Olivet Nazarene in Bourbonnais, Illinois. He first was a social worker and later was ordained a Minister in the Christian Ministry and served in Chesapeake Virginia from 1968- 1988. He then started the Children’s Home for abused and abandoned children in Brunswick County, Virginia until his retirement in 2001. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Navy for almost four years before his discharge in 1954. He is survived by his wife Norma Mae Schmidt of Bradford, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Pastor Timothy P. Schmidt and his wife Jacquie of Lynnfield, MA and Howard J. Schmidt and his wife Denise of Rowley, MA, his two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia D. Miller and her husband Greg of North Conway, NH and Laura Giannino and her husband Jon of Bradford, MA, seven grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the Calvary Christian Church, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by his Service there at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield, MA. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Calvary Christian Church Mission Fund, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield, MA 01940 in his memory.
