Obituary of Helen (Devine) Niconchuk
Helen D. (Devine) Niconchuk, 84, devoted wife of the late Alec W. Niconchuk passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Tuesday August 1, 2006 surrounded by her entire family.
Mrs. Niconchuk was born January 24, 1922 in Fall River daughter of the late Louis B. and Elizabeth (Doran) Devine. She was raised in Fall River and graduated from Durkee High School. She then pursued her education at the Bouteau Secretarial School in Fall River. Mrs. Niconchuk moved to Peabody in 1947 with her family.
Mrs. Niconchuk was the Vice President, bookkeeper and secretary for 25 years of North Shore Laboratories that her husband owned and operated until his death in 1995. She was a devoted parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church and an active member of St. John’s Ladies Sodality in Peabody, a member of Salem Country Club and Echo Point Association in Alton Bay NH. As hobbies she was an avid Red Sox Fan, enjoyed golfing, bowling and watching Jeopardy.
She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Nancy and Terence Brown of Stratford NH, Robert and Marta Niconchuk of Topsfield, Mary Ellen and Douglas Dunsmore of Boxford, Patricia Niconchuk of Peabody, William Niconchuk of Ipswich, Susan and Richard Pelletier of Rowley, Sandra Niconchuk of Peabody and David Niconchuk of Boxford; her 16 cherished grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Stella Elchook of Peabody, Paul Niconchuk of Danvers and Mary Devine of Middletown RI and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday August 4, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (downtown location) Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Catholic Charities North, Emergency Fund, 55 Lynn Shore Dr., Lynn MA 01902.
