Obituary of Barbara A Rubano

Barbara A. (Efenecy) Rubano, 85, of Peabody, died peacefully on Friday afternoon at her home surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert T. Rubano with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Blanche (Sadowski) Efenecy. She was raised and educated in Lynn and graduated from Lynn Classical High School. During high school, Barbara loved swimming in which she excelled. She has lived in Peabody for the past sixty years. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She enjoyed entertaining and hosting many social gatherings at her home over the years. She was a kind and generous grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren Thomas, Nicole, and Ashlee and sharing in all of their endeavors. In addition to her beautiful grandchildren, she was blessed with two great grandsons, Roby and Mason. Barbara was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling to Florida and Aruba where she loved spending time with family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Robert Yates, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Michelle Rubano, all of Peabody, her brother, Michael Efenecy of Guilford, Ct, her three grandchildren, Thomas and Nicole Rubano and Ashlee Yates, her two great grandchildren, Roby Carney Rubano and Mason McCarthy, and by many special nieces and nephews and her dear and best friend Conrad Correnti of Salem with whom she shared many wonderful years together. She was predeceased by her sister, Roberta Efenecy. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and her Funeral Service will be on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Barbara volunteered for many years for the North Shore Cancer Walk so if desired, expressions of sympathy can be made in her name to the North Shore Cancer Walk C/O Development Office, 81 Highland Ave, Salem, MA 01970.
