Obituary of George J Vaillancourt

George J. Vaillancourt, 87, of Peabody, MA, died Monday at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA after a five-year illness. He was the beloved husband of Delores G. (Mahan) Vaillancourt with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He was born in Danvers, MA on October 7, 1931, the son of the late Amedee J. and Alexina G. (Gagnon) Vaillancourt and was raised and educated there. He was a graduate of North Shore Community College and Northeastern University, and resided in Peabody for the past 61 years. He was a draftsman engineer in the semi-conductor manufacturing industry in Massachusetts for 50 years working with Unitrobe Co., Salem and Semi-Con Co and also worked and helped design the heat resisted tiles for the Space Shuttle Program and helped drafted the first satellite Map program prior to his retirement in 2001 George had proudly served with the Massachusetts National Guard for 24 years and was a member of the Second Corps Cadets of Salem serving with the Battery B as a First Sergeant and later was the Sergeant/ Major for the 101 st Battalion. He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody and was a member of the Leo Council # 508 Knights of Columbus of Peabody for many years. He is survived by his wife, Delores, of Peabody, his two sons, Matthew Vaillancourt of Peabody and Leonard Vaillancourt and his wife Susan of Hobe Sound, Florida, his brothers, Leo Vaillancourt of Beverly, Henry Vaillancourt of Florida, and his sisters, Claire Deinstadt of Beverly, Theresa Putnam of Danvers , a granddaughter, Nicole Batman , two great grandchildren, John and Grace Butman and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Wilfred, Albert and Arthur Vaillancourt, Adele Martin and Doris Durgin. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur funeral home at the 82 Lynn Street facility. His funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by A Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody at 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
