Obituary of Evangelia "Litsa" Kastrinakis
Mrs. Evangelia “Litsa” (Vourous) Kastrinakis, age 81, of Peabody died serenely on Sunday, July 21, 2109 after a short illness. She was the beloved wife of the late George Kastrinakis, who predeceased her in 1990, and with whom she shared 29 blissful years of marriage. Born and raised in Plagia, Lesvos, Greece. She was the daughter of the late Panagiotis and Persa (Moskos) Vouros. She came to the United States in 1957 where she met the love of her life, the handsome and always joyful George Kastrinakis, whom once said she had had the “honor of marrying” and with whom she settled in Lynn, and later in Beverly, creating many happy memories. Litsa and George were proprietors of Stromberg’s Restaurant in Salem for 35 years. Each day, they worked side by side with strength and enthusiasm until his death; Litsa continuing until she retired in 2005. She always welcomed patrons with eagerness and warmth, ensuring their experience was to their satisfaction. As many hours as she devoted to grow the family businesses and achieve the dream she and George had for their family, her favorite activity was to dote on her children and grandchildren, whom she adored. She loved travelling and dining out with them whether at faraway locations or local getaways. She was proud of her Greek heritage and devout to her Faith and rejoiced in taking vacations to Greece with her family, attending church services, and cooking and baking favorite treats to the delight of her very large extended family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Dr. William Kastrinakis and his wife Denise and Peter Kastrinakis all of Beverly, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Matthew Faletra of Beverly, MA, a brother, Manolis Vourou and his wife Maria and a sister Voula Trizis all of Lesvos, Greece. She was “Yiayia” to her nine beloved grandchildren, Lia, George, Alyssa, Jimmy, Kristina, Kelley, Eva, Alexa, and Olivia and was the sister of the late Metaxia Georgantelis and sister in law of the late Adamantia Lagonakis and her husband Nondas Lagonakis. Litsa will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
